FUNDRAISING AT
O'ROURKE IRISH DANCERS

O'Rourke Irish Dancers Student & Parent Fund

In 2009 O'Rourke Irish Dancers launched its first "FUNdraising" efforts headed up by Lisa Olney.

The "O'Rourke Irish Dancers Student & Parent Fund" has been in existence for years. 100% of the money that we earn from dance performances at various functions throughout the year goes to this fund. This money has been used in the past to offset costs for track suits, travel for coaches to various competitions and hopefully in the future to help send students to international competitions.

The money that Lisa Olney is raising through her "FUNdraising" efforts will go to the student and parent fund but is specifically earmarked for ceili team dresses. In our current economy more and more families are having difficulty keeping up with the high costs associated with Irish Dance and it is our hope to fund the team dresses 100% in the next year or two (or as soon as we meet our goal). What is our goal? Our goal is approximately 10k-15k so that we can purchase new costumes for at least two teams. The goal after that will be to circulate the costumes amongst the dancers and then to purchase new ones on an as need basis only.

The Margaret Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Margaret Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 by Sue Fuller whose daughter Amanda is a former student of O'Rourke Irish Dancers. Sue is our webmaster and also the President of the Westchester Irish American Association. The scholarship was established by Sue in memory of her mother to help dancers who need financial assistance to keep dancing. Sue headed up the tag sale at the studio in the Spring of 2009 to establish the fund. Sue is also the Co-Chair of O'Rourke Irish Dancers School Feis in order to help fund the scholarship for the future and send O'Rourke dancers to international competitions.
